8 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking & Maasai Mara Wildlife Safari
Expect the best without limitation in the Pearl of Africa; Uganda and Magical Kenya. It is an 8-day exclusive wildlife and primate encounter in two of the finest safari destinations in the continent of Africa. Kenya and Uganda are located in eastern Uganda, neighbored by Rwanda and Tanzania among others. Uganda will be the first destination; exploring the city and tracking the endangered mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat; the misty jungle of Bwindi impenetrable national park in the southwestern region in the lush Virunga Mountains chain.
In Kenya, you will drive past the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara National Park in the Narus community. There you get to encounter a variety of birds, mammals and captivating landscape. The trip starts in Entebbe international airport and ends in Nairobi, Kenya.
Detailed tour.
Day 1: Arrive in Kampala.
You will land at Entebbe international airport for the start of your 8-day safaris in Uganda and the Republic of Kenya. Our company representative will gladly receive you at the airport, going ahead to brief you about the entire trip and make any clearance where necessary.
If time allows, you will also tour the cultural inheritances, historical monuments and the trading hubs in Kampala city before driving to your lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
You will Wake up to a delicious breakfast meal at the lodge, and set off for the edge of Kabale district in the western part of Uganda. It is a roughly 9-12 hour drive, however, the option of flying would be a better one, as it saves you from fatigue, and time wastage. On-road, you get to enjoy the breathtaking landscape, plantations, and water bodies. Stop for lunch en-route, before proceeding to your lodge in one of the sectors in the park. The misty Jungle will welcome you to the habitat of your cousins.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa pygmies’ tour.
After a wake-up call in the morning, have a hefty breakfast meal at the lodge, and then go for a thrilling Gorilla trekking experience with the Gorilla family in their natural habitat. The ranger guides will gladly explain about the apes, the trekking dos and don’ts and also assign a gorilla troop to trek. A large concentration is harbored the misty jungle, led by dominant silverback whose role is to protect the family. He wins all allegiance from all the family members.
For about 2-6 hours, you will walk through the tree shades and while encountering several other mammals, birds and primates. You are given an extra hour of taking photos, watching the mothers breastfeed the infants, and the young stars play upon a successful search.
Thereafter return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an optional encounter with the Batwa pygmies, where you will uncover the life of the Batwa pygmies, dance and sing with them, and listen to the stories. Seeking to know how life in a forest is, consult the Batwa. They are also reported to be among the shortest people in Uganda. Thereafter return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Entebbe International Airport.
The day starts with a lip-smacking breakfast meal at the lodge, and then checkout for a transfer to your lodge in Entebbe, or around Kampala city. You will have a stopover at the equator for photos, lunch and to watch the confirmatory experiment of imaginary line dividing the earth in two halves; northern and southern hemispheres. You will spend the night at peace after a hefty dinner meal at the lodge.
Day 5: Fly to Masai Mara National Park.
After a peace full nap at the lodge, you will depart Entebbe international airport with a chattered flight to Masai Mara national park. Upon landing at the ground, you will be welcomed by our expert company representative who will welcome and brief you about Masai Mara and the entire experience in Kenya. If you reach early, there will be a nocturnal game drive in search of the lions, leopards and hyenas hunting at night. Retire to bed for dinner and a peaceful nap while waiting for the next day’s activities.
Day 6: Full Day game drive.
Brighten your morning with a cup of coffee at the lodge, before moving out for a full-day game drive across the vast Maasai savannah park. This place is regarded to be having about 20% of the total lion population in the continent of Africa; a large concentration of predators and so much more.
The notable creatures include; lions, leopards, cheetahs, warthogs, zebras, impalas, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hyenas, Oribis, Rhinos and the wildebeests among others. Chancing the season of wildebeest migration exposes you to a variety of migrants fighting for their lives through the Mara River, where you will explore in the evening. Call it a day at the lodge with dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Birding and afternoon Masai cultural entertainment.
After starting the day with a heavy breakfast meal, go for a morning birding encounter at the Masai trail, with various birds such as the Turacos, flamingoes, sitatunga, and ostrich among others. An expert driver-guide will help you identify the different bird species, their unique sounds and body features. The activity runs for roughly 2 hours, after which you will go for lunch.
After lunch, the evening is flavored at the Maasai cultural community with the Maasai warriors. These will take you through thrilling events, games, cultural stories, songs, and the Masai dance. Purchase a few souvenirs from them before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Departure.
The start of your last day of adventure is brightened by a Lip-smacking breakfast meal at the Lodge, followed by a transfer to Nairobi city or your flight. Enjoy the views of verdant plantations and the Great Rift Valley. It is a 5-6 hours’ drive, with lunch en-route to the airport.
