5 Days Uganda Gorilla Expedition in Mgahinga and Bwindi is an extraordinary and worthwhile trip to the two National Parks sheltering the endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda.

Visitors have enough time to get acquainted with the interesting characters and appearance of these breathtaking creatures through the dense rainforests. Besides double gorilla treks, also expect guided nature walks, village visits and bird watching adventures.

Day 1: Drive from Kampala City to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Early in the morning, we shall have a brief meet and greet in the Capital (starting point of the adventure). Then start the road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, in south-western part of the country close to the Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo borders.

Along the drive, we transverse the lush agricultural areas, pastoral areas of Ankole where you will be amazed by the sight of long-horned cattle, rolling hills and small roadside markets among others. Make a stop at Mbarara Town for refreshments and lunch then proceed to Bwindi. Reach your reserved place of stay in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park just in time for the much needed relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Begin this morning very early with a hefty breakfast prior to heading to the Park Headquarters. First briefing and reminder on the rules and regulations of trekking gorillas then be allocated armed ranger, guide and finally a gorilla group to trek. Along the trail, your experienced ranger guide will keep providing information on the Park, mountain gorillas, encountered animals and birds that make up Bwindi forest’s ecosystem.

This guided trek goes through the dense rainforest with steep mountain slopes and thick undergrowth, hence making it challenging but equally rewarding. After spotting the gorillas, you will have an entire hour to observe and photograph these amazing creatures as they go around with their daily activities. After your rewarding and informative time with gorillas, head back to the Park Headquarters where the trek began for an award of the gorilla certificate then walk back to the lodge for lunch.

If time permits make a stop at the nearby local community for a moment of cultural experience before retiring to your Lodge to rest

Day 3: Drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After our first interesting and unforgettable gorilla trekking experience within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, we drive to our second gorilla trekking destination-Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, a few hours’ drive from Bwindi.

We can leave Bwindi in the morning so as to take part in relaxation and boat ride on Lake Mutanda or relax the whole morning then leave in the afternoon. Overnight and dinner at a good Lodge within or near Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Day 4: Second gratifying Gorilla Trekking Experience in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

On this day we shall be required to arise early and head to Ntebeko Visitor Center (just as in Bwindi) for briefing and allocation a ranger guide with whom to trek the mountain gorillas.

The most thrilling thing about this adventure in Mgahinga is that you also stand the chance to meet the playful golden monkeys and is interestingly the only place in the country to see these interesting primates. After this gorilla trekking experience, head to the lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation.

In the evening engage in several community activities – the Batwa Cultural experience to get first-hand encountered with the former inhabitants of the forest before it was gazetted. You will also learn and be amazed by how they co-existed with the forest ecosystem for several decades without harming it.

Day 5: Return back to Kampala City.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the stunning Kigezi highlands and return back to Kampala City with several stopovers for photography and souvenirs in addition to lunch break in Mbarara Town.

In the evening, arrive Kampala and the driver will drop you off at your preferred location-Hotel or Airport. This marks the end of this 5 days Uganda Gorilla Expedition in Mgahinga and Bwindi.
