Have a lunch stopover, but also feed your eyes with the epic views of the rolling hills, forest cover and variety of plantations in the countryside. At sunrise, greet your taste buds with delicious breakfast at the lodge, and then with packed lunch, drive to the park headquarters for a pre trekking briefing. Gorillas have giant bodies yet are shy and gentle, moving from one territory to another in search of safe shelter and food.
The trekking exercise lasts for roughly 2-6 hours, plus an additional hour for photos and observing their unique attributes. The search is guided by an expert ranger guide, who first visits the place they last spotted the Apes, through the creepers, and lush underground steps. Expect to uncover unique plants, primates such as monkeys, birds, and some forest mammals.
After the trekking exercise, you will have a lunch break in the wilderness, followed by a transfer to the fascinating Lake Bunyonyi “second Switzerland in Africa”. It is a 2-3 hours’ drive, with amazing views of the breathtaking landscape, water bodies and ever green plantations.
