2 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking from Kigali
Our 2 days Bwindi Gorilla Trek kicks-off and concludes from Kigali City in neighboring Rwanda with opportunities of trekking the endangered mountain gorillas in one of their four natural habitats. This short gorilla safari is perfect for travellers who can’t endure long driving distance (8-9 hours from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park), limited by time (possibly have only the weekend to spare) and longing for more affordable gorilla treks ($700 for Bwindi gorilla permits in preference to $1500 for Rwanda gorilla permits).
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick-up from the Airport or Kigali Hotel and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Cyanika or Katuna border
After a wonderful breakfast at the Hotel or on arrival at Kigali International Airport, kick-off the 4-5 hours’ journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda. This scenic drive involves transversing the countryside characterized by beautiful rolling hills before crossing over to Ugandan side via Katuna at Kabale or Cyanika border point at Kisoro. Proceed with the journey to Bwindi for refreshment, lunch and later rest.
Day 2: Trekking the outstanding Bwindi mountain gorillas and return back to Kigali City
Start this unforgettable day with breakfast at the Lodge and with your packed Lunch walk or get driven to the Park Headquarters for briefing. You will be required to present your passport for crosschecking with the gorilla permit and also go through the guidelines to be followed by trekking and interacting with the mountain gorillas. This is followed by allocation into habituated gorilla groups (based on level of physical fitness, personal interest and age) then start the trek through the forest in search of the Giant Apes. Spend between half an hour and four hours searching for the mountain gorillas while the Ranger guide provides information on the trees, mammals, reptiles, birds and butterflies encountered during the trek and when found, spend one hour observing and taking photos then return to the Park Headquarters for your trekking certificate.
Get back to your Lodge for Lunch and start the journey to Kigali City via Cyanika or Katuna border points. This marks the end of our 2 days Bwindi Gorilla Trek.
